The City of San Luis Obispo is inviting residents to attend next week’s meeting of the joint Mass Transportation Committee to provide their input on the future of SLO public transit.

In a collaboration between the Mass Transportation Committee (MTC) and the SLO Regional Transit Authority (SLORTA), the meeting will review the city’s progress on the five-year Short Range Transit Plan, according to a city news release.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at 990 Palm St. Those unable to attend in person can email questions or comments to advisorybodies@slocity.org.

The Short-Range Transit Plan is “a road map that helps SLO Transit make important decisions about how to run their buses and improve their services,” according to their website

The plan aims to address the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of local public transportation.

Some of the main topics addressed in the plan include day-to-day usage, modifications to existing routes, expanded hours of service and accessibility of alternative transportation.

Staff from both departments will present results from a survey sent to the community in late 2023, as well as take input from committee members and attendees. This feedback will be used to revise the plan ahead of a City Council study session, tentatively scheduled for July.

More information on SLO Transit routes, development and future plans can be found on the city’s website
