With one week left in the conference season, the Mustangs sit in third place in the Big West Conference sporting a 3-1 conference record, the Mustangs look forward to the Big West tournament.

This season, Cal Poly has already improved from last year’s regular season where they finished with a 2-4 conference record, losing to Hawai’i in the first round of the conference tournament to end their 2022-23 season.

The No. 90 ranked Division I doubles pair of redshirt senior Bastiaan Weststrate and junior Colter Smith, by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, cruised their way to a win in their doubles match 6-3.

Redshirt senior Joe Leather and senior Noah Berry took their matchup 6-1 after, claiming the doubles point for Cal Poly.

Contributions by Israeli freshmen duo Sean Kamyshev and Raz Haviv have helped the Mustangs to their 3-1 record so far. Although their doubles match went unfinished this time, they both won their singles matchups in two sets at the five and six spots.

Weststrate claimed the clinching fourth point for the Mustangs in the third spot, winning 6-4 in both sets.

The Mustangs will face last season’s Big West champion, UC Santa Barbara, on Saturday, April 20.

The Gauchos reside in first place with a 4-0 record and will take on the Mustangs at the Mustang Tennis Complex.
