Cal Poly Men's Tennis has yet to beat a ranked opponent this season. Alice Sukhostavskiy | Mustang News.

Cal Poly Men’s Tennis fell to the No. 47 ranked University of the Pacific at Mustang Tennis Complex on Thursday, April 11 by a score of 4-2.

The Mustangs (7-8, 2-1 Big West) got early momentum in their final non-conference matchup of the season but could not sustain it against the Top 50 ranked Tigers (15-1, 4-0 WCC).

Cal Poly took an early doubles point with redshirt senior Joe Leather and senior Noah Berry paired up and rolling their opposition, while freshman Sean Kamyshev and Raz Haviv also snagged a doubles point.

The battle between the No. 87 ranked doubles pairing of junior Bastiaan Weststrate and redshirt senior Colter Smith and the 60th ranked doubles pairing from Pacific went unfinished as the Mustangs had already clinched the doubles category.

Weststrate would be the only Mustang to pick up a singles win 6-4, 6-3. Kamyshev was up in the third set after splitting the first two with his opponent before his match went unfinished.

Smith, Berry, Haviv and Leather all dropped their matches giving Pacific the four necessary points to take the overall match.

Men’s Tennis looks to get back on track Tuesday, April 16, against UC Davis at Mustang Tennis Complex at noon.
