Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) posted on their Instagram account that a stand-up comedy show featuring Noel Miller on Feb. 7 will take place in the Cal Poly Recreation Center Main Gym (Bldg 43). The event is free of charge and open to all Cal Poly students.

“Noel is the co-founder of TMG Studios which hosts his award-winning podcast, The Tiny Meat Gang Podcast, which is regularly ranked in Spotify’s Top 10 comedy shows,” according to the post.

Miller co-founded TMG Studios with Cody Ko, who is also the co-host of the Tiny Meat Gang Podcast. TMG Studios is home to eight other podcasts and shows, including “Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast,” “The Zach and Wahlid Show” and “Stretch and Fade.”

Miller rose to fame when he began a comedy-based YouTube channel in 2015. Since the comedian is popular amongst Gen-Z, many current Cal Poly students grew up consuming his content.

“[Miller’s] humor definitely curated my humor into what it is today…so I’m genuinely excited to see him in person and watch his show,” aerospace engineering sophomore Olivia Matthews said.

Since Miller’s shows typically occur in larger cities, this gives students the opportunity to see him live without needing to travel.

“I’ve been watching him on YouTube for a while, so it’s cool that we can see him live in SLO,” business junior Joseph Basalone said.

Miller visiting Cal Poly helps make this live performance more financially accessible for college students than other shows that are a part of his tour.

“It’s wild that students get to watch a comedian whose tickets sell for around $50 a pop perform for free,” public health senior Daisy Rojas said.

Doors to Bldg 43 will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Students are required to show their PolyCard and a government-issued ID upon entrance. ASI recommends registering to secure seating. Registration opened on the Cal Poly ASI website on Wednesday at noon.
