Ashley Bolter is a news reporter and journalism major minoring in French and ethnic studies. She was inspired to pursue journalism by Kara Danvers and Iris West-Allen in the TV shows Supergirl and The Flash, respectively. She got involved with MMG because she wanted to gain experience writing for a newspaper and she wanted to get more involved with the Cal Poly community. Ah Louis Store celebrates 150 years and Lunar New Year
The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the night will end with San Luis Obispo’s first-ever drone light show at 6:30 p.m.
Legacy of the lion: The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team shares Chinese culture with the Central Coast
The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team, as the only lion dance team on the central coast, works to share Chinese culture with the San Luis Obispo community. This year, the team is shifting their focus from entertaining skits to more traditional Chinese blessings of success and good fortune for businesses in the community as they prepare to celebrate the Lunar New Year in February.
“The Ripples Guy” presents to Cal Poly on resilience in changing times
The Cal Poly Leadership and Service department brought Paul Wesselmann, better known as “The Ripples Guy” or “Cal Pauly,” to Cal Poly for a presentation on resilience on Tuesday open to all Cal Poly faculty, staff and students in Chumash Auditorium.
New research program opens up 95 undergraduate research positions for eligible students
The LAEP website states that the program is open to students that identify with one or more of the following underrepresented groups: first generation, low-income, current or former foster youth, veteran, homeless or at risk of being homeless, formerly incarcerated, displaced worker, student with a disability, student with dependents and undocumented with a work authorization. Eligible students must also be California residents, able to work in the U.S. and have unmet financial need.
Student-created course brings sustainability education to Cal Poly

Research project aims to provide a new perspective on Cal Poly through an Indigenous lens
One BEACoN research project aims to move Cal Poly beyond the land acknowledgement with indigenous walking tours. These tours would let participants see Cal Poly from a new perspective that centers indigenous knowledge and history.
